What is BOTOX?
Diminishing early signs of aging in the upper face is simple with BOTOX injections at Skin Center Boston. BOTOX injectable treatments are also ideal for individuals who wish to fight off the development of annoying dynamic expression creases. Over time, smiling, laughing, and other facial expressions can cause wrinkles that stay put, even when the face is fully relaxed. BOTOX injectable treatments can significantly reduce the development of these lines by limiting these muscle movements and providing the tissue above the muscles the time to smooth itself without interference. This facial rejuvenation procedure helps people achieve a youthful and silky smooth look.

How Do BOTOX Treatments Work?
BOTOX injections are an outpatient procedure at Skin Center Boston. At the beginning of the appointment, dermatologist Dr. Vladyslava Doktor will ask patients to make a number of facial expressions using their upper face, like frowning, squinting, smiling, etc., which will help us to see where the injections need to be placed. From there, the patient's face will be prepared and using a fine needle followed by a cool compress, the BOTOX will be injected. Patients can expect the procedure to typically take about 10 – 15 minutes and are safe to return to their usual day as soon as they're finished.
What Happens After Getting BOTOX Injections?
Following the treatment, patients can resume regular activities, but strenuous activities like exercise should be skipped for at least 24 hours. It's important for patients to sleep with their head elevated for at least one night and to avoid touching the face, which may accidentally spread the BOTOX to other areas. The BOTOX injection sites may be slightly swollen, bruised, or red for 2 – 3 days, but it will subside and no long-term side effects should become present. In many cases, it usually takes around 5 – 7 days before the full results of BOTOX are visible. The results usually last 3 – 4 months. Dr. Doktor can help patients determine when they should get their next treatment.
