What is Ultherapy?

Skin Center Boston can help increase the skin's laxity with Ultherapy, a noninvasive treatment for loose facial, neck, chin, and décolletage skin. Approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), Ultherapy uses energy from ultrasound waves to change the elasticity of the skin in a short treatment session. As the treated skin begins to heal itself, the body produces more collagen, which will naturally strengthen the skin. Dermatologist Dr. Vladyslava Doktor is pleased to offer Ultherapy to Boston, Chestnut Hill, and Dedham, MA women and men. This procedure may be done in combination with other nonsurgical skin services, such as an injectable or laser skin resurfacing, to leave the skin looking revitalized and youthful.

Who Can Get Ultherapy?

Women and men in the Boston, Framingham, and Dover, MA areas can benefit from Ultherapy treatments at Skin Center Boston. When the skin on the face becomes laxer with light to moderate lines (around the brow, eyes, and mouth), or the jowl begins to droop, this nonsurgical treatment may be a great option. Whether a candidate is beginning to develop more skin sagging or deeper lines and wrinkles or they want to stay ahead of the game with a maintenance program, Dr. Vladyslava Doktor can help potential candidates decide whether Ultherapy is the right treatment for them. Call Dr. Doktor for more information today.

How Does Ultherapy Work?

After our patient arrives, we will ask them to lie down in our treatment room where a team member will prepare the skin being treated, which may include the application of a numbing cream if needed. During the treatment, a handpiece that focuses ultrasound energy will glide over the skin. Based on how many areas are getting treated, patients can expect their procedure to last around 30 – 90 minutes. It's normal for the skin to look slightly red and inflamed afterward. A cold compress and over-the-counter pain medication can decrease any pain and inflammation. Makeup can be used after the treatment, and patients can get right back to their day as usual.

What Should Be Expected After Ultherapy?

Once a patient has received an Ultherapy treatment, they can get right back to their daily routine. Patients should typically expect some redness that will resolve within a few hours. Some patients may have a small amount of swelling, tingling, or tenderness, but these are normal and will not last long. Ultherapy treatments will not show visible results immediately, as it requires time for the treated skin to heal after the treatment session. With the increase in collagen, the skin will firm in about 6 – 8 months. Depending on the patient's skin, they may need further treatments; Dr. Doktor will discuss this with each patient while creating their treatment plan.
